In this 4-part series, we will explore plants that are adaptogenic and nervine to support mental well-being and promote more peace in our daily lives. Adaptogens support a variety of body systems allowing us to respond to stresses in our lives with more ease. Nervines specifically support and nourish the nervous system. Both of these categories of herbs help reduce anxiety, improve focus and promote a sense of calm and resilience. In this class we will explore how to use them for mental clarity, stress relief and deeper rest.

Each class includes hands-on opportunities to sample herbs, craft medicinal blends and learn ways herbs to promote healing, stress relief, and foster more peace in our lives. All 4 classes are offered as a series or you can sign up for each individually.

We will be crafting herbal blends for each specific class for students to take home to enjoy and experiment with between class sessions.

January 11: Nourishing Tonics for the Nervous System

This class lays the foundation for understanding how to nourish and strengthen the nervous system over time. We’ll explore adaptogens and nervines that act as gentle, long-term tonics to promote resilience and vitality in the face of stress.

Key herbs covered include: shatavari, reishi, ashwaganda, hawthorn, milky oats, lemon balm, skullcap, rose, and fo-ti.

January 25: Herbs for Promoting Mental Focus and Easing Depressive States

This session focuses on herbs that enhance mental clarity, focus and emotional wellbeing. You’ll learn about adaptogens and nerving that help to clear mental fog, boost energy and ease symptoms of depression. We will learn how these herbs support cognitive function, improve focus and uplift the mood.

Key herbs covered include: cacao, cordyceps, damiana, rosemary, gotu kola, st. johns wort, calamus, and american ginseng.

February 8: Tonics for Easing Anxiety, Tension and Promoting a State of Peace

This class delves into herbs known for their calming properties, helping to ease anxiety, mental and physical tension while promoting inner peace. You’ll learn how to use these herbs to manage stress and cultivate tranquility in your daily life.

Key herbs covered include: saffron, western anemone, pedicularis, kava kava, catnip, motherwort, mimosa, and linden.

February 22: Herbs to Promote Rest & Deep Sleep

The final class focuses on herbs that support restful sleep and deep relaxation. We will focus on how to use specific adaptogens and nerviness to help unwind and achieve restorative sleep.

Key herbs covered include: california poppy, chamomile, hops, valerian, passionflower, blue vervain, lavender, and skullcap.

Cost
$55 per class, or $200 for the series of 4 classes.

Please note that if there are events beyond our control, such as illness, forest fire smoke, or extreme weather that compromise student safety then the school may reschedule a class to another date.
